FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SHANGHAI — Tetradom has finished a major retrofit project at a Shanghai power plant, installing 1276 Tetradom Bars to upgrade its 25,500 m³/h circulating cooling water system, with no shutdown during construction.
The 10-year-old system uses surface water as make-up water with conventional chemical treatment. While running stably, long-term operation caused internal corrosion and continuous blowdown requirements. Multiple joint technical evaluations confirmed the project priorities: uninterrupted safe operation, reduced chemical dosage, water conservation and reliable long-term performance.
Based on water quality, site conditions and seasonal factors, 1276 Tetradom Bars were fitted in the cooling tower basin and collection tank for one generating unit, serving roughly 18,000 m³ system water volume.
An independent research institute will monitor water quality and critical parameters including condenser vacuum and terminal temperature difference. Collected data will support staged chemical reduction and operational fine-tuning.
This project leverages Tetradom physical water treatment technology to cut chemical usage and boost water efficiency, creating a data-backed path toward greener cooling water operation for power utilities.
